Master the six phases of the Olympic snatch to perfect your form and increase your lifting capacity.

First Phase

First Phase - Setup

Position your feet hip-width apart with toes slightly turned out. Place the bar above your midfoot with shins close to or touching the bar. Back straight, shoulders slightly over the bar, wide grip.

Second Phase - First Pull

Begin by extending knees and moving hips upward while maintaining back angle. Pull the bar closer to your body, shifting weight toward your heels for better leverage.

Third Phase - Adjustment

Position your body for the final explosive pull with the "double knee bend." Knees rebend slightly as your torso becomes more vertical, preparing for maximum power generation.

Fourth Phase - Final Acceleration

Explosively extend your hips, knees, and ankles while performing an upward shoulder shrug. This triple extension creates maximum power to accelerate the barbell upward.

With fully extended knees, hips, and ankles, bend your arms and pull yourself under the bar. Move feet into the squat position and begin descending as the bar continues upward.

Land with feet flat in the squat position, receiving the bar overhead with straight arms. From this stable position, stand up by driving through the heels while maintaining overhead position.
